Does tenor or alto sax sound better playing slow standards from the 40s and 50s?
Q: I play clarinet, but I want to learn sax to play slower fingering songs like Stardust, Tenderly, Lulaby of Birdland etc. And I want to get a trio with a piano player and bass or drums. I like tenor sax but I wonder if alto sax might be best. Guidance needed!
A: If your a clarinetist go for a Tenor because it’s it B flat tuning just like a clarinet (or a trumpet) The alto is in E flat tuning and doesn’t sound as nice.
