Is the selmer paris soloist alto sax mouthpiece good for Concert Band?
Q: Im a young alto sax player and i have a meyer rubber mouthpiece and i need a classical mouthpiece for concert band. I found this online and i was hoping i could get some opinions….?

A: The Selmer Soloist is intended for classical study. You also may want to try The S80s and S90s, and plenty of facings within each model (most players prefer C*). Vandoren also makes good classical mouthpieces- the V5 and Optimum mouthpiece- that you should definitely try.
I’d highly recommend going to a store with plenty of selection. WWBW is a great site, but unfortunately it is hard to test mouthpieces out easily (they do have a deferred payment plan you may want to look into). Everyone is different, and to get the best mouthpiece, you need to try many.
